Soapstone Slabs

Visit our showroom in Downtown Sacramento to pick your unique soapstone slab and speak with a soapstone expert. We have a large variety of soapstone slabs and offer custom fabrication and installation in Northern California.

Natural soapstone slabs (un-oiled) are usually gray and have a rustic look to them. They will naturally darken over time, but you can speed up the process, if you prefer the darker look, by oiling. You will see both, oiled and un-oiled, versions of each soapstone slab below.

Soapstone Slabs

Un-oiled & Oiled Fosca

A lot of people are looking for soapstone with more subtle veining. This is one of our favorite options. Fosca slabs are usually more uniform with significantly less veining compared to something like Arabesque. Un-oiled they provide tones of muted grey and don’t overpower a project piece. They can be oiled for a darker sleek look. It is a popular slab of choice for barbecue areas, island centerpieces and in general for projects that aim for elegance and simplicity.

Un-oiled & Oiled Black Moon

This slab features slightly more prominent veining that almost blends with the grey tones. However, when oiled the prominence of the veining is accentuated. During the design process the flow of the veining can be planned to highlight specific project centerpieces in many cases. It offers some of the subtlety of a Fosca slab with more pronounced talcum veining for those that can appreciate it.

Un-oiled & Oiled Black Moon

Soapstone is a natural stone that occurs through a natural metamorphic process so each slab is unique. No two slabs are ever the same. Black Moon highlights this fact because even though it is the same material, it was quarried from a different section of the quarry. This results in slabs with distinctly different aesthetic features but the same name. This particular cut of Black Moon has slightly less pronounced veining than the other Black Moon and earthy undertones. When oiled it becomes darker and slightly more uniform.

Un-oiled & Oiled Castle Black

Castle black is another one of our slabs with milder veining. It’s natural color is predominately grey with accents of darker areas. The veins that it does possess run in a more linear fashion and also become more pronounced with the application of mineral oil. Castle black looks right at home in many rustic designs and can provide some movement in any project that lacks it. Applying mineral oil causes grey portions of the slab to darken & gives the slab a bolder yet more uniform look.

Un-oiled & Oiled Cinza Verde

The name Cinza Verde comes from this soapstone’s tendency to display green undertones that become more pronounced with the application of mineral oil. In it’s un-oiled state Cinza Verde has predominantly grey hues with mild hints of green. After oiling the natural green is intensified a bit & the majority of the slab takes on a greenish-grey consistency. It is a very popular material of choice with projects aiming to add an earthier & natural feel to a living space.

Un-oiled & Oiled PA

PA is another favorite for those looking for more subtle veining. It has all the classic hallmarks of soapstone. When un-oiled it presents in soapstone’s classic grey color & darkens with use & oiling. Soapstone is a natural stone so humans cannot control the veining that develops naturally during the stone’s formation. Consequently, this particular cut of soapstone has some vein movement on the right side of the slab. However, if a project’s size allows for it we can arrange template material to favor more or less veining depending on preference.
